Simple preparation routine for clients

  1. Print the job description and highlight 6–8 key requirements.
  2. Prepare at least two STAR examples for each of the big skills (teamwork, communication, problem-solving, organisation).
  3. Research the employer (website, LinkedIn, news).
  4. Prepare 3 questions to ask them (about training, team, progression).
  5. Practise out loud with a friend/adviser or via mock interviews (many jobcentres and colleges offer these).
