Knowing your rights at work

  • Acas – official, impartial advice on employment rights, discrimination, flexible working, harassment and dismissal.

Inclusive employers and schemes

  • Disability Confident – UK government scheme encouraging employers to recruit and retain disabled people; employers can sign up at Levels 1–3. GOV.UK+2GOV.UK+2
  • Many job adverts display the Disability Confident logo – useful to highlight to disabled clients.

Further support

  • Encourage clients facing discrimination to:
    • Keep written records (dates, times, what happened, witnesses).
    • Contact Acas for early conciliation and advice. Acas+1
    • Use specialist charities or unions depending on their situation (e.g. disability, race equality, LGBTQ+ support).
